Relevance of the project: EMPOWER is the project which aims to develop gender equality in the territory of Uzbekistan by enhancing entrepreneurial skills of female citizens. Initially women will be empowered by successful stories of their compatriots. They will meet 6 female entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and learn about their success stories. Interested women will be selected and trained for essential entrepreneurial skills. Those skills will enhance their knowledge in the field of business and will be the first step in independent life. The testing of the project will be held in the HEIs of Uzbekistan which has more than 80% female students. It will help females to taste their abilities in different fields and avoid being stuck in gender prejudiced jobs. The training will be held online and teach entrepreneurial skills.

The Project Wider Objective:

  •   To enhance entrepreneurship skills among women to provide gender equality and employability for citizens of Uzbekistan in Central Asia via development and implementation of mini credentials through collaboration with all stakeholders.

The Project Specific objectives:

  •   To increase the percentage employability in Uzbekistan among females, as starting new business refers to opening new working places increase the number of women in managerial positions and give chance to females to see the power of self- efficacy, independence, and self- confidence empower young female generation to be more powerful and confident, to shrink and employability among women and reduce the gap between genders 

Project Duration – 3 years

(December, 2023 – December, 2026)
Expected results:

  • Selected women will undergo training to acquire essential entrepreneurial skills. These skills will enhance their knowledge in the business field and serve as the first step toward independent living. 
  • The project's pilot phase will take place in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Uzbekistan, where over 80% of the students are female. 
  • This initiative will provide women the opportunity to explore their abilities in various fields, helping them avoid gender-biased job roles.
  • The training will be conducted online, focusing on entrepreneurial skills. 
  • The project will encourage participation from mothers on maternity leave, housewives, women in remote areas, and women from young families.
  • This initiative is expected to increase the employability rate among women in Uzbekistan, as new businesses create new job opportunities. 
  • Consequently, there will be a rise in the number of women in managerial positions, allowing them to experience the power of self-efficacy, independence, and self-confidence.
  • As a result, the younger generation of women will become more powerful and confident, the gender gap will narrow, and female employability will rise.

The EMPOWER project of the Erasmus+ programme has started its work

We're thrilled to share exciting news from all beneficiaries- Central Asian University's Business School and Tashkent Kimyo International University, Named Ishoqxon Ibrat State Institution,  Pedagogical Institute of Bukhara State University, Technische Universitaet Dresden, Visshe Uchilishte po Menidzhmant, Paul Francis East along with their representatives, successfully launched the EMPOWER Capacity Building Project.  
This pivotal initiative, funded by the European Commission, is set to boost the capabilities of our university and its esteemed partners across Uzbekistan. With the collaboration of prestigious institutions like the Technical University of Dresden and Varna University of Management, we're embarking on a journey to enhance academic excellence and operational efficiency.
