The Department of Translation Theory and Practice was established in 2022 and is the main department specializing in Chinese-English translation. The scientific direction of the department is to study practical and theoretical issues of translation theory. The department has 5 full-time professors, including 1 doctor of science professor, 1 Doctor of philosophy associate professor, 3 senior teachers. The main goal of the department is to train mature specialists in oral, written, simultaneous and artistic translation. The department teaches subjects such as Introduction to Translation, Intercultural Communication for Translators, Translation Theory, Translation Practice, Literary Translation, Scientific and Technical Translation, Simultaneous Translation. Also, since Chinese-English translation direction is new, subjects such as Chinese writing skills, Chinese listening and speaking skills are taught in the department. International conferences on translation studies are held at the department. In the near future, the department plans to cooperate with the Malta State University on student exchange and professional development.

Odilova Gulnoza Komiljonovna – Head of the Department of “Theory and Practice of Translation” Odilova Gulnoza Komiljonovna earned her Candidate of Sciences degree in 2011 and Doctor of Sciences degree in 2021, and holds the academic title of Professor. She has been serving as the Head of the Department of “Theory and Practice of Translation” at Kimyo International University in Tashkent since 2022. She delivers lectures and practical classes in the subjects “Practical Translation”, “Translation Studies”, “Fundamentals of Translation Studies”, and “Literary Translation” in both Uzbek and English. Odilova Gulnoza Komiljonovna is the author of more than 100 scientific-theoretical articles, 3 textbooks, 2 monographs, and numerous brochures. pany.
Senior Lecturer at the Department of "Theory and Practice of Translation" 2013-2015, Master of Translation and Interpretation in Beijing Foreign Studies University; 2021-2025, PhD in Philological Science in National University of Uzbekistan Named after Mirzo Ulugbek. Sharula is currently conducting independent research in the field of Comparative Linguistics and Contrastive Translation Studies (specialty 10.00.06). She has 10 years of experience in scientific and pedagogical activities. Since 2025, she has been working as a senior lecturer at the Department of "Theory and Practice of Translation" at Kimyo International University in Tashkent. Sharula delivers lectures and practical classes in both English and Chinese in the following subjects: “Simultaneous Interpretation,” “Translation Theory” and “Chinese Language”. She is the author of more than 10 scientific and theoretical articles.
Senior Lecturer at the Department of "Theory and Practice of Translation" Lyu Xuelian is conducting independent research in Comparative Linguistics and Contrastive Translation Studies (specialty 10.00.06), with 14 years of academic and teaching experience. Since 2023, she has served as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation, Kimyo International University in Tashkent. She teaches Comprehensive Chinese, Oral Chinese, and Russian Chinese Translation Practice, and is the author of fourteen academic articles. In 2025, she contributed to her department’s translation project, Pearls of the East Aphorisms Alisher Navoi, rendered into Chinese and published by Kimyo International University in Tashkent.
Senior Lecturer at the Department of “Theory and Practice of Translation” 2011-2015 Bachelor’s degree at Harbin Institute of Technology, majoring in Measurement, Control Technique and Instruments; 2019-2020 Master’s degree at Columbia International University, majoring in Teaching Instruction. He started working at Kimyo International University in Tashkent since 2023, currently mainly teaches Chinese language and communicating courses in Chinese and English.
Senior Lecturer at the Department of "Theory and Practice of Translation" Khamidova Mohinakhon Alisherovna is currently conducting independent research in the field of Comparative Linguistics and Contrastive Translation Studies (specialty 10.00.06). She has 15 years of experience in scientific and pedagogical activities. Since 2021, she has been working as a senior lecturer at the Department of "Theory and Practice of Translation" at Kimyo International University in Tashkent. Khamidova Mohinakhon Alisherovna delivers lectures and practical classes in both Uzbek and English in the following subjects: “Practical Translation,” “Translation Studies,” “Speech Culture,” and “Uzbek Creative Writing” She is the author of more than 30 scientific and theoretical articles.
