Census - 2023

The population census is used as information in the development of targeted programs for the socio-economic development of regions, employment of the population, improving the health of women and children, and helping families. The main role in the system of official statistics is assigned to the census for reliable population counting.

For the first time in thirty years, the census process will begin.

As it is known, the UN Resolution of June 10, 2015 “Principles and Recommendations for Population and Housing Censuses: the 2020 Round” was adopted, which stipulates that UN member states must conduct population and housing registration at least once. At present, the CIS countries are preparing for this process.

It has been 30 years since the last census in the country. The last such census was conducted in 1989. As a result, a number of difficulties arose in studying the real standard of living of the population and in providing them social security. However, international experience shows that in many countries it has become a tradition to conduct a census at least once every ten years. Such an important process is about to start in our country. In this regard, the legal basis for the census is the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated November 11, 2020 No. 710 “On measures for organizing and conducting the population census of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2023”.

After gaining independence, the first population census in the country will take place in 2023 and be carried out every 10 years.
Participation in the census means participation in the development of the country's plans for the future.
