Seminar Training on Quality Assurance in Uzbekistan’s Higher Education Reform
On June 18, 2025, Kimyo International University in Tashkent hosted a significant
seminar-training event under the European Union’s “Erasmus+” program. The event, part of
the “QUARTZ” project (Quality Assurance in Reforming Uzbekistan Higher Education
Institutions), brought together representatives from higher education institutions across
Uzbekistan.
Purpose and Objectives
The QUARTZ project aims to enhance quality assurance systems in Uzbekistan’s higher
education institutions based on European experiences. Key objectives include:
● Improving quality assurance systems in Uzbekistan’s higher education institutions
● Strengthening cooperation between higher education institutions and the labor market
● Developing effective processes and tools for quality assurance
● Enhancing digital literacy and skills of human resources
The seminar focused on developing clear quality policies, strategies, and ideals for education,
scientific research, community service, and university management.
Event Details
The seminar began at 10:00 AM with opening remarks from Prof. K.B. Akhmedjanov, Acting
Rector of Kimyo International University in Tashkent, followed by representatives from the
European Union and the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education.
The program included presentations on:
● Current issues related to ensuring the quality of education in higher education
institutions
● The role of student-centered education in the university’s short-term strategy
● Innovative approaches to assessing student knowledge
● University management structure and its institutional relationships
by PhD M. Kamalov and M. Artikova from Central Asian University, DSc. Sh. Elmurodov
and PhD Z. Sharipova from KIUT.
The event concluded with practical and interactive sessions, providing participants an
opportunity to discuss implementation strategies and ask questions.
This initiative represents an important step in Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts to transform its
higher education system to meet international standards while addressing local needs
