The Book is My Friend


On December 11, 2024, Kimyo International University in Tashkent, together with the primary organization of the Youth Union and the Information and Resource Center, held a contest “Kitob mening dostim” (The Book is My Friend) within the framework of “Kitobhon talaba” (A Book lover student) project. This event gained importance as a relevant initiative aimed at promoting reading and stimulating the comprehensive development of young people.

Goal of the contest

The main goal of the contest was to attract young people to reading fiction, convey to the general public the importance of books in life, and teach the younger generation to think independently. This project also aims to support talented youth and improve the reading culture.

Selection conditions and process

The contest was held in three nominations:

“Erudite Book Lover” - participants passed a test consisting of 30 questions.

“Mastery of Annotation” - short annotations on the topic “My Favorite Work” were presented. “Propaganda of the reading culture” - Participants made speeches aimed at popularizing reading.

 

Teams and results of the competition

5 teams consisting of university students participated in the contest: “Yosh ijodkorlar «, “Everest», “Ilgorlar”, “Yuksalish” and « Yangi dunyo izlovchilar”.

The contest was opened by the rector of the university Akhmedjanov Karimjon Bakidjanovich, who spoke about the importance and benefits of reading. In his speech, he wished everyone good luck and encouraged young people to read books.

The results of the contest were as follows:

1st place: Team “Yosh ijodkorlar”.

2nd place: Team “Yuksalish”

3rd place: Team “Yangi dunyo izlovchilar”

4th place: Team “Everest”

5th place: Team “Ilgorlar”

All teams were awarded memorable gifts and certificates.

In a word, the “Kitob mening dostim” contest has become one of the important steps in attracting young people to fiction and motivating them to intellectual development. Such events will help the younger generation to get engaged with reading books and become well-rounded individuals.
