My Mother Tongue, My Heart and Soul! October 21 — Uzbek Language Day
Language is the memory of a nation, a reflection of its history and identity. It preserves the values, worldview, and cultural heritage shaped and passed down through generations.
On October 21, 1989, Uzbek was granted the status of the state language. This historic milestone marked an important step in strengthening national identity and reinforcing the role of the Uzbek language in society.
While Alisher Navoi demonstrated the remarkable literary richness of the Turkic language through his works, prominent writers and intellectuals such as Abdulla Qodiriy, Cho‘lpon, and Fitrat made significant contributions to the development of Uzbek as a language of literature and intellectual expression.
Today, the standing of our mother tongue is reflected not only in cultural celebrations but also in its effective use in science, education, technology, and everyday communication. The ability of younger generations to express their thoughts clearly, accurately, and meaningfully is essential to the future of our language.
Respecting our mother tongue means taking responsibility for preserving, enriching, and passing it on to future generations.
Happy Uzbek Language Day!
